Women’s soccer knocks off ARC

The Falcons opened their Big 8 Conference schedule on Tuesday night with the tough assignment of playing at American River, but came away with a satisfying 3-0 win over the Beavers.  Despite experiencing early nerves, the young Falcons dominated possession from the start and it wasn't long before Emma Thompson found Sara Freed with a crossing pass from the right wing that Freed netted for her 7th goal of the season.  Thompson wasn't finished, however, as she found teammate Hayley Semkiw with another crossing pass in the 34th minute, which Semkiw scored for a 2-0 Falcon lead at halftime.  The final Falcon goal came early in the second half and was the culmination of 7 or 8 passes that started from the goalbox and finished with Kacee Van Lindt slotting a center pass through to Sarah Scott for the goal Falcon Goalkeeper Izzy Chinchay put the finishing touch on the shutout with a 1-on-1 breakaway save late in the match.

The Falcons will finally play their home-opener on Friday night when they host an undefeated Delta College squad in a Big 8 Conference match at 7:00 pm.
