Women’s soccer knocks off ARC

The Falcons opened their Big 8 Conference schedule on Tuesday night with the tough assignment of playing at American River, but came away with a satisfying 3-0 win over the Beavers.  Despite experiencing early nerves, the young Falcons dominated possession from the start and it wasn't long before Emma Thompson found Sara Freed with a crossing pass from the right wing that Freed netted for her 7^th goal of the season.  Thompson wasn't finished, however, as she found teammate Hayley Semkiw with another crossing pass in the 34^th minute, which Semkiw scored for a 2-0 Falcon lead at halftime.  The final Falcon goal came early in the second half and was the culmination of 7 or 8 passes that started from the goalbox and finished with Kacee Van Lindt slotting a center pass through to Sarah Scott for the goal.  Falcon Goalkeeper Izzy Chinchay put the finishing touch on the shutout with a 1-on-1 breakaway save late in the match. 

The Falcons will finally play their home-opener on Friday night when they host an undefeated Delta College squad in a Big 8 Conference match at 7:00 pm.
