The Falcons earned an exciting come-from-behind victory on Tuesday afternoon in San Jose, with freshman Sarah Freed scoring the winning goal in the 87th minute to secure a 2-1 win over Evergreen Valley College. The two teams played a scoreless first half before Evergreen Valley broke the tie with a goal in the 58th minute. Now playing from behind, the Falcons took control on the attacking end, eventually resulting in a tying goal by freshman midfielder Hayley Semkiw, assisted by Corrine Christmann. The final seventeen minutes were nerve-wracking as both teams took turns attacking for the winning goal. With just three minutes to play, Semkiw slotted a perfect pass to Freed, who netted the game-winner. Falcon goalkeeper Izzy Chinchay was superb in the victory, stopping five Hawks' shots on goal.
The Falcon women will next play at Clovis on Tuesday, September 4 at 2:30 pm.
