Falcons lose a close one to Lake Tahoe

The FLC men played a highly competitve match against an international squad representing Lake Tahoe Community College on Friday afternoon, but came out on the short end of the 1-0 final score.  The visiting Coyotes - with 11 players from the U.K., UAE, or Italy - scored the only goal of the match early in the second half, then held off the Falcons over the final frantic minutes.  The teams were evenly matched and possession time appeared equal, but one defensive mistake by the Falcons led to an open shot and the Coyotes capitalized.

"That was a tough loss because we were so evenly matched," noted head coach Justin Johnson, whose team is now 2-4 in non-conference play.  The Falcons have one more tune-up match - on Wednesday at Butte - before opening Big 8 Conference play on Friday against Cosumnes River at FLC.
