Bio

Molly Hanrahan, the former associate head coach at Folsom Lake College (FLC), is entering her third year as the head coach of women’s volleyball at Folsom Lake College. Coach Hanrahan owns 15 years of experience as a volleyball coach, including seven as an assistant varsity coach at St. Francis High School (2007-13) and seven years working at the Community College level. She began at American River College (ARC) as a graduate assistant coach (2000-2001), and most recently two years as an assistant coach at Cosumnes River College (2014-2015).  For the past three years she served as assistant coach at FLC (2016-2018), with a promotion to associate head coach for the 2018 season. In the three year program history with FLC, Coach Hanrahan has been a main contributing factor to the success of the Falcon program, helping the team to an overall record of 62 wins and 21 losses, finishing in the top 18 in the state and top nine in Northern California all three years. During the three years of the FLC volleyball program, in 2017 the team earned a birth to the State Championship Elite Eight Tournament, finishing 6th in the state and 3rd in NorCal. The FLC program has seen four student athletes move on to play at the four year level and a successful transfer rate of above 84%.

Before joining CRC’s program, Coach Hanrahan spent seven years as the varsity assistant coach at St. Francis High School (2007-13), as well as head coaching duties for the JV (2012-2013) and freshman teams (2007-2011). While at St. Francis, Hanrahan helped the team win seven league titles with four section titles and three 2nd place finishes. Those teams also found great success in the state playoffs with two 2nd place Northern California finishes and a 1st place finish in 2012 that ended as 2nd place team in the state for Division I. During her time at St. Francis, Coach Hanrahan saw more than 30 senior volleyball athletes move on to play at the collegiate volleyball, including programs such as UCLA, Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara, Montana State, St. Mary’s, and UC Davis. Hanrahan also has 11 years head coaching experience at the club level that saw success at the Junior National Tournament.

 

Coach Hanrahan played volleyball for two years at American River College as a starter both years; freshman year as a middle blocker / right side and sophomore year as a setter / right side. The team saw success with births to the playoffs both years. During her sophomore year, Hanrahan earned All-Conference 1st Team award and the ARC team MVP. Hanrahan was also a multi-sport athlete playing basketball both freshman and sophomore years as well as track and field her sophomore year, earning the Rebeca Rust Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year award for American River College. Hanrahan earned a dual scholarship to play both volleyball and basketball at NAIA Briar Cliff University (BCU) in Sioux City, IA. She was a starter for the volleyball team as a setter and libero where she earned the defensive player of the year award for BCU her senior year.

 

Hanrahan has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science from Briar Cliff University and a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University. She currently resides in Sacramento.
