Falcons sweep Diablo Valley
The Falcons maintained the momentum from last weekend's stirring victories in Santa Cruz with 3-0 blitz of Diablo Valley on Wednesday night at Falcon Gym, winning 25-8, 25-15, 25-12. Granted, Diablo Valley is having a tough year (now 0-14), but the Falcons played like a cohesive unit even with the entire bench logging substantial playing time. The Vikings clearly had no answer for freshman outside hitter Julin Kenison, who put up big numbers despite playing sparingly. Freshmen Jenna Matheson, Hailey Coad, and Adri'ane Bellamy took advantage of extended play time, contributing to the victory with kills, blocks, and big serves. Backup setter Taylor Coate had an excellent game feeding the offense, and freshman libero Saki Yamamoto provided numerous digs.
The Falcons (12-3 overall, 4-2 in Big 8) are off this Friday, then take their #7 state ranking to Sacramento City College (7-11, 1-4 in Big 8) next Wednesday night.
