Falcon Volleyball Wins 5th Straight

The first-year FLC volleyball team continued their march toward the CCCAA state playoffs with a resounding straight-set sweep of Cosumnes River College in south Sacramento on Wednesday night, 25-18, 27-25, and 25-16.  Relying on the all-around play of freshman Kylie Haverson (17 kills, 17 digs), the Falcons recorded their fifth straight victory while improving to 9-5 in Big 8 Conference play.  Falcon setter Samantha Hegseth recorded 39 assists,  while Annie Stapleton and Isabella Marrufo added 12 digs apiece.  The victory put the Falcons alone in fourth place with a battle for third looming on Friday night against cross-town rival American River (10-4).  In the latest state volleyball rankings released on Tuesday, the Falcons found themselves at #9 in northern California and #19 in the state.
