Folsom Lake Shows Fight in Tough Loss to Sierra College
The Folsom Lake College women's tennis team put up a valiant effort against Sierra College on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, but ultimately fell 6-1 to a strong Sierra squad.
Doubles Competition
The match kicked off with doubles play, where Folsom Lake saw mixed results. The duo of Melanie Noriega and Talia Silva secured a commanding 8-2 victory over Emma Patterson and Erin Johnson in the top doubles spot. In the second doubles match, Sophia Dubinetts and Angela Bradley fought hard in a thrilling contest but narrowly fell 9-8 to Sierra's Elodie Wu and Kali Wither.
Singles Matches
Despite a strong start in doubles, Sierra College dominated singles play, winning five out of six matches. FLC's lone singles victory came from Livia Young in an intense battle against Reese Bandy. After dropping the first set 4-6, Young bounced back with a 6-3 second set before clinching the match in a tight 10-7 tiebreaker.
Melanie Noriega played competitively in the top singles spot winning 6-3, 6-1 over Emma Patterson. Talia Silva and Angela Bradley each put up strong fights but lost their matches 6-4, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-3, respectively. Dubinetts was overpowered in her match against Wither, falling 6-1, 6-0.

Despite the tough loss, the Falcons demonstrated resilience and flashes of strong play.
