Beavers hand Falcons first loss in women’s tennis

The FLC women's tennis team put their unbeaten streak of seven matches on the line Thursday afternoon as they visited American River College in a long-awaited Big 8 Conference showdown that was postponed by rain nearly a month ago.  With both teams sporting an unblemished conference record, the winner would gain the home-court and number one seed for the Big 8 playoffs.  The Beavers gained early control of the outcome when they swept the three doubles matches – though two of those went down to the wire – to go up 3-0.  The Beavers then took four of the six singles matches to win 7-2.  Falcon freshmen Erin Cline and Laura Parkyn were the lone winners at #4 and #6, respectively.

Now seeded second for the playoffs, the Falcons will host #3 Santa Rosa on Tuesday, March 21 with the winner facing American River for the Big 8 championship on Friday (March 24).
