Folsom Lake College Falcons Dominate American River Beavers in 5-0 Shutout Victory

 In a commanding display of offensive prowess, the Folsom Lake College Falcons soared to a decisive 5-0 victory over the American River College Beavers. The Falcons' win featured five different goal scorers and an impenetrable defense that held the Beavers to zero shots on goal, securing a clean sheet for goalkeepers Bitsy Wagner and Linnea Sybersma.

The scoring started early for the Falcons, as midfielder Kamaya Yazzie struck in the 8th minute with an assist from Tea Reyes, giving Folsom Lake a 1-0 lead. The Falcons carried this lead into halftime, but they were just getting started.

The second half saw a scoring explosion. Defender Katy Shurson doubled the lead in the 53rd minute with a solo effort, sparking a rapid succession of goals that put the game out of reach. In the 63rd minute, Reyes netted her first goal, assisted by Josie Reynolds, bringing the score to 3-0. Just nine minutes later, Laila Hadid capitalized on a pass from Grace Pratt, stretching the lead to 4-0. Reyes capped off the scoring in the 77th minute, notching her second goal with a well-timed unassisted strike.

The Falcons' defense, bolstered by standout performances from Andrea Hernandez and Mikayla Voyer, completely shut down the Beavers, allowing no shots on goal. With the Beavers unable to mount any offensive threat, Wagner and Sybersma shared goalkeeping duties to secure the shutout.

Despite the dominant performance, Folsom Lake played with intensity and physicality, picking up four yellow cards in the first half. However, their disciplined team play ensured they stayed in control, leading to a win that highlighted both their depth and skill.
