Falcon women earn a draw at Lake Tahoe

It's never easy playing on the road in soccer, but add in 6,000 feet of elevation and you've created a nightmare.  The Folsom Lake women's soccer team survived such a nightmare on Tuesday afternoon when they came away from Lake Tahoe Community College in South Tahoe with a hard-earned 1-1 tie.  The teams were evenly matched and played a scoreless first half with both squads defending well.  The Falcons' best chance to score occurred when Kaitlyn Scoggins set up a shot from outside the box that hit the crossbar before it was cleared by Lake Tahoe.  The Cougars finally broke through in the 60th minute for a 1-0 lead, but the Falcons didn't sulk.  Instead, they responded ten minutes later when Mia Solorio-Smith fed a pass to freshman forward Klaire Horton for the tying goal.  Despite relentless pressure and several scoring chances, there would be no more scoring.

The Falcons will next face another tough opponent when Clovis comes to Folsom on Friday.  The game time has been moved up (from its original 3:30 pm time) to 12:30 pm to avoid the worst heat on a day that is forecasted to hit 104*.
