Falcons again manage last-minute goal to tie Santa Rosa

Five times over the past two seasons the Folsom Lake and Santa Rosa women's soccer teams have met.  Four of those have resulted in a tie.  Friday afternoon, the two powerhouse teams put on another epic battle at Falcon Stadium, with this one ending in typical dramatic fashion as FLC's Andrea Martinez scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of play.  Sound familiar?  These same two teams played to a 1-1 tie a month ago in Santa Rosa when the Falcons scored a tying goal in the 88th minute after trailing 1-0 for the entire second half.  This time, the two teams played the first 70 minutes tied at 0-0, although both had their share of close chances.  But after Santa Rosa's April Gomez scored in the 70th minute, the Bear Cubs packed the defensive end of the field in an effort to prevent any Falcon attacks and grind out the clock.   The strategy worked until the final minute, when Tiara Webb found Martinez at the top of the box.  Andrea sent a long, bending left-footer that curled into the upper corner of the goal for her state-leading 21st goal of the season, preserving the Falcons' unbeaten streak of 17 matches.  At 10-0-2, the Falcons are 8 points ahead of second-place Sierra, whom they'll face on Friday evening at FLC.
