Women’s soccer notches 2-0 victory in Modesto

The visiting Falcons capitalized on goals by sophomore Breanna Brumet (40th minute) and freshman Riley Spitzer (68th minute) as they shut out Modesto on Friday afternoon, 2-0.  The Pirates, who lost at FLC 5-0 a month ago, appeared to take a more aggressive offensive approach this time and managed to hold the Falcons scoreless for most of the first half until Keionna Claypoole found Brumet with a pass that led to FLC's first goal.  Tiara Webb connected with Spitzer for an assist midway through the second half for a 2-0 lead.  The Falcons finished with 15 shots on goal, although most were directly at the Pirates' goalkeeper.  The victory improves the Falcons' undefeated record to 13-0-1 and 8-0-1 in Big 8 Conference play.  Tuesday night's match against American River at FLC is shaping up to be a battle as the Beavers are lurking in second place in the Big 8 at 6-2-1.
