Falcons shut out Diablo Valley, 2-0
The FLC women's soccer team jumpstarted the weekend for all Falcon teams when, just three minutes into their match against defending Big 8 co-champions Diablo Valley, sophomore forward Tiara Webb received a ball from Jimena Jovel in the box, turned a defender and scored on the near post. The early goal got the home crowd hyped early, and the Falcons used it to their advantage as they applied stout defense and a relentless offensive attack in defeating the Vikings, 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Valerie Ogorodnikov earned yet another shutout victory while Tiara Webb bolstered her stats with two goals (the second came in the 81st minute). With the win, the Falcons improved to 9-0-1 overall and remain in first place in the Big 8 at 4-0-1, just a single point ahead of American River and Sierra. Sierra and FLC will meet at Sierra on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 pm in a battle for the Big 8 lead.
