Women's Soccer humbles Modesto in Big 8 debut

The FLC women's soccer team began defense of their 2016 Big 8 Conference co-championship on Tuesday night with a solid 5-0 victory over Modesto at Falcon Stadium.  The Falcons wasted little time in jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes with goals by Andrea Martinez and Tiara Webb.  Martinez – the state leader in goals and points scored - added another goal 10 minutes later to make it 3-0.  With the Falcon defense rarely allowing their opponent any advances past midfield, the score remained at 3-0 until the final five minutes when Webb and Natalie Ayers added goals for the final 5-0 margin.  The Falcons improved their season record to 6-0, but more importantly, are 1-0 in Big 8 Conference play.  They will take on American River on Friday night at ARC.
