Women's Soccer Trounces Sac City

A contest that looked like a mismatch on paper turned out to be even worse on the field as the FLC women defeated Sac City 11-0 Tuesday night at Falcon Stadium.  The Falcons put on a passing clinic against the Panthers, who entered the match with a record of 2-11 (and 0-7 in the Big 8).   FLC Coach Donny Ribaudo purposely held out several key players who have been nursing minor injuries, but the Falcons still managed seven goals in the first half.  Hannah Klinger, Hannah O'Donnell. Breanna Brumet, Kaylin Johnson (twice), Leily Ghods, and Paty Navarro all found the net in the first 45 minutes of play.  The Falcons throttled back while emptying the bench in the second half, focusing more on teamwork and passing, but three goals in six minutes by Paige Verneuille and another by Brumet pushed the lead to 11-0.  The Falcons improved to 5-2-1 in the Big 8 Conference while maintaining their hold on third place.  They'll host Cosumnes River on Friday afternoon (3:30 pm) at Falcon Stadium.
