Falcon Women's Soccer Closes in on BVC Title With 9-1 Win

The FLC women's soccer team entered last Friday's match against second-place Solano with a record of 11 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie in Bay Valley Conference play, with the only blemish on their record being a 1-1 tie against Solano back on September 29 in Fairfield.  Thus, Friday's rematch at Falcon Stadium took on a little more meaning as the home team looked to exact some revenge.  The Falcons wasted little time, scoring in the 3rd minute when Sami Thomas knocked in the rebound of a shot off the post by Sam MadsenJaqui Ortega and Hannah O'Donnell quickly followed suit with goals in the 12th and 17th minutes, respectively, and the route was on.  With the defense applying intense pressure,  the Falcons played perhaps their finest half of futbol of the year as Solano struggled to advance the ball to midfield.  Meanwhile, Solano had no answer for the speedy O'Donnell as she repeatedly raced past their defense from her position on the right wing,  finishing with three goals and one assist for the game.  Sami Thomas tallied two goals, while Andrea Martinez had one goal and one assist.  With the win, the Falcons improved to 14-2-2 overall and 12-0-1 in conference with just three matches left to play.
