Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 To #1 Fresno City

The Falcon women went up against the nationally-ranked number one Fresno City College Rams in Fresno yesterday in a non-conference showdown and almost pulled off the upset.  The two teams waged a scoreless battle for 84 minutes before the Rams sent an errant crossing pass from 30 yards out that sailed into the back post for the only goal of the game.  "I'm just proud of the way we played," commented coach Donny Ribaudo.  "We competed with the best team in the country and battled right to the end."   With both teams leading their respective conferences, they could potentially meet again in the postseason.  The Falcons, ranked 7th in California and 10th nationally, will now focus on their six remaining Bay Valley Conference matches before concentrating on the state playoffs.  They'll face Merritt College on Friday afternoon at Falcon Stadium in the first game of a women's/men's home doubleheader.
