Battling a rash of injuries and illness and down 1-0 in the final minute of play, the Falcon women managed to tie host Solano yesterday on a late goal by sophomore Chayney Mata. The Falcons were missing two starters with injuries, another was ill, and lost one more to a concussion during the game. Even with Solano playing a deep defensive alignment, the Falcons still had multiple scoring opportunities, but, like the men, could not convert. Solano took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half on a nice goal that eluded Falcon keeper Hannah Smith, then deepened their defensive set. Throughout the second half, Solano continued to thwart the Falcons' scoring chances until Mata's game-tying goal on a 35-yard shot in the final minute saved the day. With the tie, the Falcons' BVC record is now 2-0-1 and 4-1-2 overall.
