Falcon Women Cruise To Victory

The FLC women's soccer team continued their dominance over Bay Valley Conference opponents with a convincing 8-1 victory over Los Medanos at Falcon Stadium last Friday night.  With six different players scoring the goals and six players credited with assists, the Falcons demonstrated their team depth and unselfish style of play.  Sophomore Jaqui Ortega started off the scoring in the 6th minute after Sami Thomas' shot rebounded in front of the goal.  Freshmen Karina Torres and Andrea Martinez also scored in the opening half, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead after 45 minutes.  In the second half, early goals by Thomas (2) and Martinez put the game out of reach at 6-0.  Sam Madsen and Paige Florio added two more in the final ten minutes before Los Medanos tallied their only goal in the final minute of play.

In two-plus seasons in the Bay Valley Conference, the Falcons have never been beaten by a conference opponent.  Since beginning play in 2013, their BVC record is a gaudy 26-0-2, with the two ties occurring in 2013 against Mendocino.  Currently, the Falcons are 2-0-0 in the BVC and 4-1-1 overall.  Their next match will be Tuesday afternoon in Fairfield when they take on co-conference leader Solano at 4:00 pm.
