Falcons fall to Allan Hancock in a nailbiter finish

Following Thursday's opening round victory over Glendale (see Friday's story) at the Toys For Tots Tournament in Santa Maria, the Falcon women faced tournament host Allan Hancock on Friday night.  In what turned out to be the game of the tournament, the host Bulldogs edged the Falcons, 64-63.  The game, which featured 11 lead changes and 10 ties, was a back-and-forth battle from start to finish as neither team led by more than two possessions at any point. Folsom's largest lead was a three-point advantage in the opening quarter while the Bulldogs built their best lead to five points just before halftime. The Falcons (2-6) won the scoring battle in three of the four periods, but a strong 17-10 second quarter for the Bulldogs (6-2) proved to be the difference-maker.  The Falcons took a one-point lead with just over a minute remaining in the game on a pull-up jumper by Jasmine Hess, but a go-ahead jump shot with 37 seconds remaining put the Bulldogs back up by one.   The Falcons had a chance to win on their final possession but couldn't convert a three-pointer and also missed a layup before the horn sounded.

Jasmine Hess led the Falcons with 15 points – despite playing just 12 minutes as she eases back from injury – and Reya Lee tallied 13.
