Falcon women come up short against DVC

Despite Shay Boley's season-high scoring night, the Falcons could not overcome the state's #3 ranked team, losing 80-70 to Diablo Valley on Tuesday night in Falcon Gym.  The defending state-champion Vikings fell behind by 11 in the first quarter, then closed to within five at halftime.  The Vikings owned the third quarter, when they outscored the Falcons 27-5 to take a 17-point lead into the final period.  At that point, the Falcons went to a full-court press and began creating turnovers and easy layups.  With three minutes to go, the lead had shrunk to just five points.  But the Vikings had too much depth and, despite some shaky free-throw shooting,  were able to hold off the fast-closing Falcons.  Shay Boley equaled her season-high point total with 28 points and also led the team with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.  Dejanet Porter added 14 points and Delaney Keddie grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Falcons remain in 4th place in the Big 8 at 5-5 and will play at Cosumnes River (0-9) on Friday night at 7:30.
