The FLC women's basketball team used a suffocating defense to race to a 21-point first-quarter lead, then maintained the rest of the way in their 72-41 non-conference victory over College of Marin on Tuesday night at Falcon Gym. The Falcons did not allow a point for the first 8 minutes of the game and led 25-4 after one quarter. The Mariners made a little run in the second quarter while the Falcons were patting themselves on the back, but the margin was soon restored in the 3rd quarter after a stern halftime speech from Coach Mollet. Five Falcons scored in double figures: Delaney Keddie with 16 points, Dejanet Porter with 15, Taylor Sexton with 13, Shaina Shah with 12, and Alexis Zimmerman with 10. Mo Peters led the Falcons with 7 rebounds and also with 4 steals.
The Falcons will travel to Visalia on Friday with games against Reedley (Friday at 2:00 pm) and Sequoias (Saturday at 2:00 pm).
