Trade Tech proves too much in season opener

Folsom Lake's new women's basketball coach Ali Mollet had the unenviable assignment of opening her head coaching career against one of the top teams in California on Thursday afternoon at the Cosumnes River Tournament.  The Falcons lost to L.A. Trade Tech, a 2018 CCCAA State Championship Elite Eight finalist, 76-51, in the season opener.   Trade Tech won this same tournament last year with margins of victory of 59, 59, and 45 points, so the 25 point loss was the closest anyone has gotten to the Beavers.  Freshman guard Shay Boley led the Falcons with 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while sophomore returnee Alma Perez netted 15 points.  Meanwhile, coach Mollet was able to play her entire squad yet still managed to keep the score relatively close.  The Falcons will take on Butte College in Friday's second round game at 6:00 pm, with the winner playing either Shasta or Los Medanos on Saturday.
