Wolverines cruise past Falcons in Big 8 opener

The defending Big 8 Conference champion Sierra College Wolverines paid a visit to Falcon Gym on Wednesday night and demonstrated why they're a perennial northern California powerhouse program as they cruised past the Falcons, 89-47, in the Big 8 Conference opener for both teams.  The Falcons were mostly outnumbered in this matchup as the Wolverines sent waves of fresh players onto the court with virtually no dropoff in talent.  Sierra had four players score in double figures and 10 different players scored at least four points in the victory.  Meanwhile, the Falcons were struggling with their shooting touch as the offense found few open shots.  Faith Wilson led the Falcons with 17 points, followed by Alma Perez with 9.   The Falcons will next play at Santa Rosa on December 29 (Friday) before returning to Falcon Gym on January 2 against American River.
