The Folsom Lake College women's basketball team made history on Tuesday night, riding the wave of home-court enthusiasm as they pulled away from Mendocino to win their first game ever played at Falcon Gym, 83-55. The Falcons started slowly, falling behind while they tried to find their shooting touch. Eventually, though, the Falcons' speed and athleticism on defense began creating easy scoring chances. Freshman guard Alma Perez led the team with 28 points to go with her 7 steals and 7 rebounds. Pesky point guard Abby Malekos dished out 8 assists and had 7 steals while scoring 11 points, and center Nicole Ayala was a force in the paint with 12 points and 9 rebounds. The first-year team improved their early-season record to 2-2 and will play at Los Medanos in Pittsburg tonight. Congratulations to head coach Glenn Mayol and the Falcons on their first home-court victory!
