Folsom Lake Shows Grit in Hard-Fought Battle Against Fresno

The Folsom Lake College Falcons displayed resilience and determination in their matchup against Fresno City College on February 18, 2025. Despite a 2-0 loss, the Falcons put forth a strong defensive effort, keeping the game within reach until the final out.

Pitcher Marianna Prieto led the way for Folsom Lake, going the distance with a complete game performance. Over six innings, Prieto allowed only five hits and two unearned runs while striking out three batters. Her command on the mound kept Fresno's offense at bay, limiting their scoring opportunities and giving the Falcons a chance to stay in the game.

Folsom Lake's offense had its moments, with three players recording hits. Mia Griffith, Arianna Tatupu, and Aniya Cruz each contributed a base hit, showcasing the team's ability to battle at the plate. However, Fresno's pitcher, Mia Castillo, proved to be a tough opponent, striking out nine batters and preventing the Falcons from capitalizing on their opportunities.

"We played hard and stayed competitive throughout the game," said Folsom Lake head coach. "Marianna (Prieto) did a fantastic job keeping their hitters off balance, and our defense made some great plays. We just need to find ways to string together more quality at-bats and take advantage of scoring chances."

While the Falcons may not have come away with a victory, their performance against a strong Fresno team highlights their potential moving forward. With solid pitching and flashes of offensive promise, Folsom Lake remains a team to watch as the season progresses.
