Falcons continue to roll, sweep two from Lassen

With a doubleheader sweep of visiting Lassen College on Friday, the Folsom Lake women's softball team improved to 6-0 in the 2020 season.  In the opener, the Falcons pounded out 16 hits – including three by second baseman Adriana Bridges – as they won in six inning.  Freshman pitcher Angelica Blackmer held the Cougars scoreless on just five hits.  Sophomore outfielder Sunshine Corral drove in 3 runs with a sacrifice fly and two hits, and shortstop Ariana Riojas had 3 hits and scored twice.

In the second game, freshman Jailene Salciedo gave the Falcons an early 2-0 lead when she hit her third home run of the young season in the first inning.  In the second, the Falcons rallied for 5 more runs when they strung together five hits, a walk, and a hit batter to go ahead 7-0.  In the fourth inning, Sunshine Corral's 2-run triple gave the Falcons a 10-1 advantage and put them three outs away from an easy win.  Gigi Mendez shut down the Cougars for the final three outs after Jailene Salciedo's outstanding pitching debut.  The Falcons, now a perfect 6-0, will host Solano College for a doubleheader on Tuesday evening beginning at 4:00 pm.
