Season-ending loss for Men’s Tennis

The Falcons had high hopes for their first-ever playoff match, but lost to a vastly improved Chabot College team, 8-1.  The Gladiators served notice when they swept all three doubles matches, then continued to mow through the FLC lineup in singles.  Sean Alves was the only victor for the Falcons, winning 6-1, 6-3 at #1 singles.  "I'm disappointed that the season is over," remarked head coach Patrick Rutz, "but I'm really proud of what this team accomplished.  We've come a long ways."  The men finished third in the very tough Big 8 Conference; the previous best for a FLC men's team was fifth.  They also were the first FLC men's tennis team to qualify for the Dual Team playoffs.  With the dual team season finished, four Falcons will prepare for the individual state championships in Ojai April 21-24:  Sean Alves and Shawn Morgan in singles, and Kevin Conley & Francisco Garcia in doubles.
