Falcons Fall Short in Hard-Fought Battle Against Long Beach City College

Long Beach - The Folsom Lake College Falcons wrapped up a challenging weekend on the road with a 4-0 loss to the Long Beach City College Vikings in a non-conference match on Sunday. After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, the Falcons were determined to turn things around but faced a formidable opponent in the 7-1 Vikings.

Despite showing resilience throughout the match, Folsom Lake struggled to penetrate Long Beach's defense. The Falcons registered 11 shots in total, with 8 on target, but could not capitalize on their opportunities. Midfielder Alejandro Suarez-Amaya was a bright spot for the Falcons, contributing two shots on goal, while Isaac Harrison, Octavio Mendoza, Blake Garcia, Issai Gonzalez, and Alex Medina also tested the Vikings' goalkeeper, Abraham Ramirez, who stood tall with 8 saves, denying Folsom Lake any chance to score.

The Falcons' defense worked hard but faced constant pressure from Long Beach's attack. Goalkeeper Fernando Garcia made 5 crucial saves but was ultimately beaten four times. Long Beach's first goal came in the 28th minute, followed by three more in the second half, putting the game out of reach for Folsom Lake.

The Falcons fought back in the second half, recording 8 shots and forcing Ramirez into action, but the Vikings' defense remained unbreakable. Folsom Lake earned 3 corner kicks and drew 9 fouls from Long Beach, but they couldn't convert their set-piece opportunities into goals.

Now sitting at 5-4 for the season, the Falcons will return home to regroup and prepare for their next challenge. Despite the losses over the weekend, Folsom Lake continues to show promise, and the team remains focused on refining their play as they move forward.
