Falcons stumble at CRC

An FLC men's soccer team that was expecting a win at Cosumnes River - who was 0-8 in Big 8 play prior to their match - never got things going on Tuesday afternoon and eventually fell to the Hawks, 2-1.  The Falcons had plenty of chances early on, but didn't convert those chances into goals.  Instead, they found themselves down a goal after the Hawks scored in the 27th minute.  The Hawks, now energized with confidence more than ever, continued to control the match.  When the Falcons gambled with a an offensive push midway through the second half, the Hawks took advantage of a mistake and cashed in with their second goal for a 2-0 lead.  Kameron Kascht finally found the net for the Falcons, but it was a case of 'too little, too late'; the Falcons just never found their rhythm as the Hawks earned their first Big 8 victory of 2019.  The Falcons, meanwhile, fell to 2-4-3 in road games in 2019; at Falcon Stadium they are a formidable 10-0-2.

The Falcons will close their Big 8 schedule on Friday afternoon at Santa Rosa, the Big 8 leader at 8-0-1.  The CCCAA state playoff brackets will be announced on Tuesday, November 19.
