Falcons, Bear Cubs battle to scoreless tie

Friday afternoon's battle for Big 8 supremacy turned into a defensive struggle between Santa Rosa and Folsom Lake with neither team able to penetrate the goal as they played to a 0-0 tie.  The Falcons once again looked poised to score several times in the first half with shots on goal, near misses, and post shots, but could not find the net.  In the second half, Santa Rosa had their chances as well, but Falcon goalkeeper Arman Salimi refused to crack as he fought off all attackers.  Falcon defender Mason Lopez earned 'Man of the Match' from his teammates and coaches for his stellar defensive play.  Sophomore forward Tanner Boyea was equally tough on the offensive side of the ball, making life miserable for the Bear Cub defenders.

The tie leaves the Falcons (now 8-0-5 overall, 3-0-2 in Big 8 play) in second place at the halfway point in the Big 8 season.  They'll play four non-conference crossover matches in the next two weeks before resuming conference play on November 1 at Modesto.
