Falcons blank Cosumnes River

The Falcons took control of a close match with an unrelenting offense against Cosumnes River on Tuesday night, resulting in a comfortable 3-0 win over the Hawks at Falcon Stadium.  The Falcons controlled the ball and outshot the Hawks in the first half, but had many near misses from close range – including two Penalty Kicks – that prevented an early runaway.  But sophomore forward Tanner Boyea found the net in the 23rd minute on a free kick that scooted through the wall of defenders for a 1-0 lead that the Falcons would never relinquish.  Dylan Huft added a goal later in the half after a pass from Ethan Atterberry found Huft in front of the goal.  After taking their 2-0 lead into the halftime break, the Falcons added another goal early in the second half when Adam Ratto placed a perfect ball to Atterberry for a 3-0 lead.  Meanwhile, the defense was making life miserable for the Hawks while Falcon goalkeepers Gerardo Perez and Arman Salimi  - who split the keeper duties, each playing a half – kept any hopes of a CRC goal out of the net.

The Falcons improved to 8-0-4 overall and are alone in second place in the Big 8 at 3-0-1, but have a solid test awaiting on Friday when they face Big 8 leader Santa Rosa (10-1-1 and 4-0 in Big 8 play) at Falcon Stadium at 4:00 pm.
