Falcons prevail against CRC

The Folsom Lake men's soccer team continued their march toward a Big 8 title match (more on that later) with a solid 2-0 victory over Cosumnes River at a blustery Falcon Stadium on Tuesday evening.  The feisty Hawks (8-6-4 overall, 1-4-2 in Big 8) came ready to play and gave the Falcons fits with their energetic defense.  The Falcons finally broke the scoreless tie late in the first half when sophomore Christian Lima knocked in a loose ball following a free kick by Adrian Jimenez The Falcons later added an insurance goal when Chase Gray wriggled through traffic, then found Big 8 scoring leader Miguel Medina for his 14th goal of the season and a 2-0 lead.  The Falcon defense remained solid with goalkeeper Federico Ruiz earning yet another shutout.

Looking ahead, the Falcons will host Big 8 leader Delta College on Friday afternoon (3:00 pm) in what equates to a championship match.  The Mustangs (5-0-2 in Big 8 play) currently hold a one point lead over the Falcons (5-1-1); the winner will have the inside track to the title with just two matches remaining next week.
