Another shutout win for men's soccer

Another shutout win for men's soccer

In their closest and most physical match of the season thus far, the Falcons continued their streak of early-season success with a tense 1-0 non-conference victory over Butte College on Tuesday afternoon in Oroville.  The intensity was evident on both sides of the ball as the two teams appeared evenly matched.  The turning point came midway through the first half when Falcon sophomore midfielder Miguel Medina buried a penalty kick into the net for his state-leading 8th goal of the season.  From that point, the Falcons clamped down on the defensive side of the field as they recorded their fifth shutout in six matches.  Defenders Eddie Ramirez and Christian de Lima were selected as co- "Men of the Match" for their lock-down defense of the Roadrunners.

The Falcons have one non-conference match remaining before they begin Big 8 Conference play next week; they'll host Contra Costa on Friday afternoon at Falcon Stadium in the opener of an FLC soccer doubleheader.
