Men's Soccer Notches Tie

Men's Soccer Notches Tie

The Falcons hosted Bay Valley Conference leader Contra Costa on Friday afternoon to close out their season, and nearly came away with an upset victory.  With FLC head coach Justin Johnson starting a lineup of all sophomores on Sophomore Recognition Day, the Falcons had several near-miss shots on goal that might have won the game.  Conversely, the Comets' few scoring chances were neatly stopped by Falcon goalkeeper Patrick McDade and defenders Logan Guler, Richard James, Nick Valentine, and Nathan Benesch .  The Falcons' best scoring chance came early in the second half when forward Ian Callender sent a looping header over the onrushing Comet goalie only to have it knocked away at the last second by another defender just as it reached the goal.  The Falcons (2-6-4 in BVC, 4-13-4 overall) finished the season on an upswing with a win and three ties in their final five matches.
