Mens Soccer Drops Heartbreaker To Marin

The Falcons' hopes of a doubleheader sweep of Marin took an early hit when the Mariners scored in the 9th minute of play.   The Mariners' goal seemed to wake up the Falcons as they controlled the ball and dominated time of possession, eventually tying the score on a goal by freshman Marco Aguilar.   Another Mariner goal made it 2-1 at halftime.  The second half saw more of same as the Falcons dominated shots on goal (11-5) and time of possession, but were stymied at the goal.  In the 73rd minute, Richard James found Christian Cardoza for the tying goal, making it 2-2.  The final 20 minutes saw both teams working hard to  break the tie, but it was Marin who scored the knockout goal in the final 2 minutes of play to win, 3-2.  The loss drops the Falcons to 1-2 in Bay Valley Conference play and 3-9 overall.  The Falcons take on BVC leader Yuba College on Tuesday in Marysville before returning home for Friday's match with Napa Valley.
