Men's Soccer Falls To Santa Rosa

The FLC men's soccer team had a Bay Valley Conference bye yesterday which they filled with a non-conference home contest against Big 8 powerhouse Santa Rosa.  The Bear Cubs demonstrated why they are currently in first place in the Big 8 as they shut out the Falcons, 3-0.  With a suffocating defense that harassed the Falcons most of the day, the Bear Cubs repeatedly prevented FLC from crossing midfield.   Santa Rosa wasn't finding much success with their possessions either, as the Falcon defense was almost as impenetrable.  A defensive miscue in the 18th minute led to the first Santa Rosa goal.  A terrific save by Falcon goalie Patrick McDade on a Santa Rosa penalty kick was negated when the rebound was knocked into the net in the 26th minute for the Bear Cubs' second goal.   Still, the Falcons fought hard.  On the occasions when they advanced the ball past midfield, there were scoring chances for the home team, but the Santa Rosa goalkeeper came up huge with several outstanding saves.  The Falcons will now focus their attention on Friday's home match against Bay Valley Conference foe College of Marin.
