Falcons fall in final minute to West Hills

The Folsom Lake men's basketball team nearly notched their second win of the young season on Saturday afternoon, but a defensive lapse and a mishandled ball in the final minute against West Hills Coalinga cost them a victory as they fell 74-71 in the opening game of the Columbia College Classic Tournament in Sonora.  The Falcons started the game with a sense of determination and led from the opening whistle.  But West Hills slowly chipped away and took a 4-point lead into halftime, then built that lead to nine in the second half.  But the Falcons fought their way back, eventually taking a 3-point lead with less than a minute to play.  After West Hills re-took the lead, the Falcons were forced to foul and West Hills capitalized on their free throws for the three point win.

Sophomore forward Dane Johnson continued to shine as he led the team with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots.  Sophomore guard Donovan Cokley added 16 points on 4-of-6 shotting from beyond the arc, and freshman Jordan Hess came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers as well.
