After a very close first half, the FLC men's basketball team faded late in the second half at College of Marin on Saturday, eventually losing to the Mariners 69-56. After a slow start, the Falcons battled back and trailed by one at halftime, 36-35. The game remained close through the second half until the final seven minutes when the Mariners went on a 16-4 run to break open the one-point game. The most telling stat may be the free-throw disparity; Marin made 22 of 29 (76%) while the Falcons had just 20 attempts and only made 7 (35%).
Sophomore Dane Johnson recorded yet another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Arguelles had 8 points without missing a shot (2-of-2 on 3-pointers). But the rest of the team struggled with their shooting and managed just 36%.
The Falcons will have all week to iron out the kinks before they travel to Hartnell (salinas) for a 5:30 pm game on Saturday.
