'Lights out' shooting night by Sierra leads to Falcon loss

The Folsom Lake men's basketball team had hoped to avenge a February 1 two-point loss to Sierra when the Wolverines came to Falcon Gym on Tuesday night, but the visitors played as if it were their home court, putting on an exceptional shooting display as they ran away from the Falcons, 91-72.  At times it seemed as though the Sierra team could not miss, even when throwing up desperation three-pointers to beat the shot clock.  The Falcons, meanwhile, struggled to find an offensive rhythm.  Cameron Wall tallied 19 points on a variety of dribble-drives and jumpers and Dane Johnson feasted on layups and spin moves in the paint for 19 points while grabbning 14 rebounds and blocking 3 shots as well.  Tre Adams came off the bench to contribute 8 points and 7 rebounds for the Falcons.  But the Wolverines clamped down on the Falcons' best scorer, limiting Pierce Rexford - who came into this game averaging over 20 points per game - to just two points.

The loss drops the Falcons (9-6 in Big 8) into a virtual tie for third place with American River with just one game to play.  The Falcons face the tough task of playing at Delta (12-3), the Big 8 leader, on Thursday night.
