Rexford (again) leads Falcons to victory

Somehow, some way, the Falcons found a way to win on Saturday afternoon.  A showdown between the Big 8-leading Falcons and one of the hottest teams in the Big 8, Diablo Valley, lived up to the hype as neither team led by more than four points throughout the second half. But despite a banged-up lineup and losing two players to fouling-out, the Falcons pulled out a 90-86 victory that left coach Bill Benford dazed.  The visiting Vikings fell behind early, then quickly adjusted and led by two at halftime, 50-48.  The Falcons once again leaned heavily on their leading scorer, sophomore Pierce Rexfordwho poured in 34 points and also grabbed 17 rebounds.  Freshman guard Cameron Wall came up big with 22 points and 6 assists, including some clutch free throws down the stretch.  Dane Johnson had the unenviable task of battling DVC's big man, Casey Cappo, but still chipped in 17 points and pulled down 9 rebounds..

The Falcons, now 6-1 in Big 8 play, will host co-leader Santa Rosa (8-3 in Big 8) on Tuesday night at 5:30 for the Big 8 lead.
