Falcons defeat Pirates in Modesto

The FLC men's basketball team survived a night of mediocre outside shooting to win their second consecutive game as they defeated Modesto 87-73 on Tuesday night in Modesto.   Luckily for the Falcons, Matt Lyon (22 points, five 3-pointers) and Isiah Maun (18 points, four 3-pointers) stepped up and carried the outside scoring load.  The Pirates actually led the game by 7 points midway through the first half, but a 14-0 Falcon run put the visitors ahead to stay.  A six point halftime lead (39-33) continued to expand during the second half but never got to the 'comfortable' stage as the Pirates kept fighting back.  Nevertheless, coach Bill Benford was able to find playing time for his entire roster as the Falcons pulled away to win by 14.
