Falcons start hot but fall to Mustangs, 90-73

The Falcon men put together perhaps their best half of basketball on Friday evening at Falcon Gym, but were outnumbered and ran out of steam in the second half as they fell to Delta College, 90-73.  With Zethan Dumpson knocking down three's (six in the 1st half) and DJ Heidelberg cleaning up in the paint (12 first- half points), the Falcons built a nine point lead by halftime.  But credit the Mustangs, who wore down the shorthanded Falcons in the second half with a trapping defense and waves of fresh players.  When Heidelberg fouled out early in the second half – leaving the Falcons with four players on the floor – the outcome was sealed, though the Falcons never quit and kept the score respectable.   Dumpson finished with 36 points and 9 rebounds, while Isiah Maun added 15 in the second half to finish with 21 points.  The Falcons will finish off their inaugural season this week with games at Sac City (Tuesday) and Modesto (Thursday).
