Gutty Falcons battle DVC

The Falcons entered Friday night's home game against Diablo Valley with just five healthy players, but that number was reduced by one midway through the first half when 6'5" forward Khouri Kling went down with a severe ankle sprain, leaving the Falcons to play four-on-five for the rest of the night.  The end result – a 107-77 loss - was predictable given the circumstances, but doesn't accurately depict the heart and effort the Falcons showed.  After a slow start, the Falcons had built some momentum and closed a huge early deficit to just seven points when Kling went down.   With a one player advantage, the Vikings showed no mercy and rebuilt a 12-point lead by halftime (51-39).  In the second half, the plucky Falcons continued to find ways to score even though they couldn't effectively defend against five players.  Zethan Dumpson scored a career-high 42 points in the loss, while point guard Deairon Maun was 3-of-4 from three-point range for 10 points.

The Falcons are off until Friday, when they host Delta College at 5:30 pm in the final home game of their inaugural season.
