Falcons Ready to Soar: Folsom Lake College Heads to Playoffs After Competitive Series

The Folsom Lake College Falcons are playoff-bound, wrapping up their regular season with a hard-fought series against the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs. While the final results of the series didn't favor the Falcons, the team showed flashes of the talent, resilience, and heart that earned them a postseason berth. Now, with the Laney College Eagles on deck for May 2nd and 3rd, Folsom Lake is poised for a strong playoff push.

The three-game set against Santa Rosa was a true test. In the series opener at Falcon Field on April 22, the Falcons exploded for eight runs in a thrilling fourth inning, showcasing their offensive firepower. Connor Barth launched a home run and tallied three RBIs, while Adam Reyes, Asa Martinez, and Michael Ryan each chipped in with key hits. Although Santa Rosa ultimately pulled away for a 13–8 win, the Falcons' ability to rally and put up a crooked number against playoff-caliber pitching was a reminder of their dangerous lineup.

Game two, played in Santa Rosa, saw the Falcons strike early with a first-inning RBI single from Martinez. Despite falling 10–1, Folsom Lake continued to battle at the plate, collecting six hits and working quality at-bats against a tough Bear Cubs pitching staff. Dylan Warren, Jarren Ekkelboom, Nolan Lawrie, and Keith Shelton all gained valuable experience on the mound that will serve the team well moving into playoff action.

The series finale on April 25 back at home was another gritty effort from the Falcons. Although the 6–1 loss didn't reflect the competitive nature of the game, there were positive takeaways: solid contributions from young hitters, continued strong play from Reyes and Ryan, and important innings logged by the bullpen to keep the game within reach.

Throughout the series, the Falcons showed flashes of brilliance — timely hitting, aggressive base running, and solid defense — and perhaps most importantly, they never quit. The spirit and fight they displayed will be crucial as they turn the page to the postseason.

Folsom Lake now sets their sights on Laney College, with playoff matchups scheduled for May 2nd and 3rd at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Falcons will look to regroup, refocus, and reignite the offensive firepower that carried them through the season.

The regular season may not have ended with a sweep, but the real season — the postseason — is just beginning. With their eyes on the prize and plenty of talent across the roster, the Falcons are ready to soar.
