Falcons Soar Past Modesto with Explosive Fifth Inning Comeback

Down early and struggling to find momentum, Folsom Lake College roared back with a massive fifth-inning surge to claim a 9-5 victory over Modesto on Tuesday. The Falcons, who trailed for much of the game, turned the tide with a seven-run explosion that sealed the win in front of their home crowd.

Modesto came out swinging, taking an early 3-0 lead through the first three innings. Kenyon Sanders and Tyler Dorn each went deep for the Pirates, and Titus Wheelock chipped in with an RBI double to keep the pressure on Folsom Lake.

Folsom Lake finally broke through in the bottom of the third when Connor Barth launched a solo home run, cutting the deficit to 3-1. A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch allowed another run to score, but the Falcons still found themselves trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

That's when the game completely flipped.

With one out and the bases loaded, Logan Pruski singled home a run, setting off a chain reaction of offense. Micah Kendrick drew a walk to force in another, and Barth followed with a clutch RBI single to tie the game at five. The floodgates opened from there—Trajan Rogowski, Adam Reyes, and Dylan Green all delivered key hits, with Green's two-run single capping off the inning and giving Folsom Lake a 9-5 advantage.

On the mound, Andrew Balentine delivered a dominant relief performance, shutting down Modesto over the final five innings. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out three, keeping the Pirates off the board after their early success.

Barth led the Falcons offensively, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Green and Rogowski each added multi-hit performances.

With the win, Folsom Lake continues its strong start to the season and will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup. Meanwhile, Modesto will need to regroup after letting a crucial lead slip away.
