Falcons Battle Hard but Fall Short Against Lassen

The Folsom Lake Falcons put up a strong fight against the Lassen College Cougars but ultimately fell 7-3 in a hard-fought contest at home. Despite out-hitting the Cougars 8-7, defensive miscues and late-game struggles proved costly for the Falcons.

Folsom Lake got off to a promising start, striking first in the bottom of the first inning when Michael Ryan scored on a passed ball. However, Lassen responded quickly, capitalizing on defensive errors and a sacrifice groundout to take a 2-1 lead in the second.

The Falcons clawed their way back in the third inning, tying the game at 3-3 thanks to a sacrifice fly from Quincy Malbrough and an RBI groundout by Trajan Rogowski in the sixth. However, Lassen broke the deadlock in the eighth, stringing together key hits, including an RBI single from Ethan Beede, to pull ahead 5-3. The Cougars tacked on two more unearned runs in the ninth to seal the win.

Ryan led the Falcons' offense with a 2-for-4 performance, while Adam Reyes also chipped in with two hits. The Falcons' pitching staff, led by starter Nolan Lawrie (3.0 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 K), held the Cougars to just three earned runs but struggled to contain Lassen's late-inning surge.

Folsom Lake looks to bounce back in their next game as they continue their early-season campaign. Despite the loss, the Falcons showed resilience and offensive potential, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
