Folsom Lake Falcons Advance to NorCal Super Regional with Dominant Performance

Folsom - After securing a share of the 2024 Big 8 Conference title, the Folsom Lake College Falcons swept their first-round series in the 3C2A Baseball Championships against Solano College, showcasing their scoring potential and strong pitching performances. The Falcons clinched the best-of-three-game series with ease, outscoring their opponents 20-4 over two games.

Game 1 Recap:

In the opening game, the FLC Falcons powered their way to an 11-2 victory. Ryan Oakes pitched a complete game for Folsom Lake, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters. The offense provided ample run support with a three-hit performance from Michael Ryan, who drove in two runs and scored twice. Darryl Dilworth hit a solo home run, and Max Debiec added a key two-RBI double in the fifth inning, propelling the Falcons to an early lead.

The Falcons consistently applied pressure on Solano College's pitching staff, with seven different players recording RBIs. Solano College struggled to find momentum, only scoring their two runs in the first inning before being shut down for the rest of the game.

Game 2 Recap:

Game 2 saw another impressive performance from the FLC Falcons, winning 9-2 to advance to the next round. Folsom Lake's offensive firepower continued, with 15 hits and eight RBIs spread across the lineup. Darryl Dilworth led the charge with three hits, including a double and a single, driving in three runs. Max Debiec contributed a triple and three RBIs, while Brady White added a crucial two-RBI double in the eighth inning.

Pitching was also a strong point for the Falcons, with Andy Uharriet, Carter Henninger, and Max Debiec combining to allow just six hits and two runs over nine innings. Henninger struck out six batters in three scoreless innings, while Debiec closed the game with one inning of work.

Looking Ahead:

The Falcons now advance to the 3C2A Baseball NorCal Super Regional round, where they will face off against the number three seed, West Valley College, and the number six seed, Los Medanos College. This three-team Super Regional format is a double-elimination tournament, and one team will advance to the 3C2A Regional Final round next week.

Games will begin on Thursday, May 9th, with the Falcons taking on Los Medanos College in their opening match. The remaining games will be determined based on the outcome of each game.
