Sutter's grand slam propels Falcons to 13-2 win over CRC

The Folsom Lake baseball team took game three of their series against Cosumnes River with an emphatic 13-2 victory on Saturday afternoon at Falcon Field.  After loading the bases in the first inning but managing to score just one run, the Falcons again loaded the bases in the second.  This time they took full advantage of the situation as third baseman Logan Sutter launched a long home run to centerfield for a grand slam and a 5-0 lead.  The Falcons added six more runs in the third to go ahead 11-0, fueled by Jared Breedwell's two-run double and Drake Digiorno's RBI single.  Meanwhile, Falcon starter Skylar Wells was blanking the Hawks on just four hits while striking out nine in five innings.  Wells improved his season record to 7-0 while lowering his ERA to 1.57.  Sutter's homer was his team-leading fourth of the season to go along with his other team-leading stats in RBI (37) and slugging percentage (.598).

The Falcons (20-3-1 overall, 8-1 in Big 8) open a three-game series on Tuesday against Delta (19-6, 10-2) in a battle for Big 8 supremacy.  Tuesday's and Friday's games will be in Stockton with the Falcons hosting Thursday's game at 2:30 pm at FLC.
