Despite early 4-run deficit, Falcons roll past Santa Rosa 15-8

The Folsom Lake baseball team hasn't had many 'stinkers' from their starting pitchers in 2022, but they demonstrated on Thursday afternoon that even when it happens, they have enough offensive firepower to overcome just about any deficit.  Falcon starter Gavin Ochoa - who entered yesterday's game with 3-0 record and a sparkling 1.84 ERA - experienced his first poor outing on Thursday, allowing seven earned runs in an inning and 2/3.  But the combination of stellar relief pitching and unstoppable bats allowed the Falcons to rally from behind and win their 10th straight game (and 15th win without a loss due to a tie last month) to remain undefeated in Big 8 play with a 15-8 victory over Santa Rosa at FLC.  Sophomore Will Jacobson - a 6'11" lefty - took the ball in the second inning with his team behind 7-2 and proceeded to shut out the Bear Cubs on just three hits over the next 5-1/3 innings.  Meanwhile, the Falcons scored runs in every single inning and built a 14-7 lead by the time Jacobson left after the seventh.  The Falcons offense took charge, pounding out 15 hits in a relentless attack on Bear Cub pitching.  Jared Breedwell and Cole Tremain both hit homers for the second straight game (Tremain's homer was estimated at 420 feet, landing in lane 3 of the track beyond left-centerfield), while Breedwell and Logan Sutter had 3 RBI each.  Jeff Bauser went 4-for-6 and scored twice, and Wyatt Reginato had two doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

The Falcons will look for a series sweep on Friday in Santa Rosa at 2:30 pm.
